World Cup I and Challenge Cup I took place in Tallinn 11.-13.3.2022. This time world situation brought some uncertainty to organizing team of this competition event.
"Estonian Gymnastics Federation has a very great team for organizing high level competitions, but this time was a great challenge, because we didn't know, which teams really were coming. We thank all teams for participating!" Lea Kriibi from Estonian Gymnastics Federation sums up feelings after finals.
All in all, 10 teams in World Cup and 9 teams in Challenge Cup came and competed this time. During the preliminaries on Saturday local organizers were showing respect to Ukrainian team who couldn't come to Tallinn by reading out their names and places they are now placed. We wish all the best to Ukraine!
This first competition was full of beautiful performances and excitement. "I'm very happy to see the gymnasts, coaches and judges in this season opening competition. It is important that we can have international competitions with AGG people meeting together. Warm thanks to the Estonian Gymnastics Federation for organizing this beautiful AGG event." comments Jaana Widenius, IFAGG Council member, after the competition.
Finland and Olarin Voimistelijat (OVO) took the gold medals in both juniors and women. Other medals went to Finland and Estonia. OVOs' head coach Anneli Laine-Naatanen was happy after the competition. "I am pleased with both of my teams' performances. In the finals both teams made their best performances yet this season. It is great to have international competitions. They bring some extra motivation to athletes and coaches to everyday life."
Next stop for World Cup and Challenge Cup is Sofia, Bulgaria, in May. IFAGG and Bulgarian Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics welcomes the whole AGG family in city of Sofia, Arena Armeec sport hall. "We are preparing for unforgettable competition and send greetings to all teams around the world. Let's hope that we can see each other in a beautiful, spectacular IFAGG event less than one and a half month. We also expect in the days before World Cup, Challenge cup and Academic cup competitions, very big number of judges who will take new knowledge in the judge course organize in Sofia. Welcome to sunny Sofia!" wishes Marieta Dukova, president of Bulgarian Federation of AGG.
